Thunder and Lightning

Thunder and Lightning is a collection of mostly true poems inspired by mostly true events.

If you love pets or have loved an animal, you will find something in here for you. If you have gone to school, there is something for you too. If you ever find yourself afraid, or just noticing the world around you, I welcome you to join me in my book nook.

The One

The One is a poetry picture book told through the eyes of a resident pup who observes the various circumstances that bring each animal to the shelter. The reader sees through the eyes of the main character who ultimately finds a joyful ending with a family of his own.

The One was inspired by dogs living in animal shelters.

Get Out Doubt

Get Out Doubt is a collection of poems that speak to young readers about their inner voices and ideas, as well as plain old funny observations and life situations.

Dear Reader,

Thank you for visiting my page! I have been rhyming, dancing, and singing to my pets from the time when I was very small. Since I have become tall (or at least a bit taller than I was) I decided to write my rhymes and songs down. Most of my poems are inspired by true events and observations, particularly the poems that involve pets and other animals. When a rhyme begins in my head, I quickly get my pen to jot it down and see how it grows. Many grow quickly into their whole poem, but some take a bit more time to fully develop. Petting one of my four cats or walking my dog in the rain often help when I am stuck. Having been both a dancer and a teacher I find that art, poetry, music, and movement are wonderful tools for children to use to learn, grow, and express themselves. I hope that you will enjoy the rhythm of my words and if you need to get up and move with them a bit, feel free.

PS: I have accomplished a few things from my younger list of things to do when I grow up. I am happy to be growing still and hope to get to some more of them!

When I Grow Up

I would like to be a Dancer

And maybe a Doctor too

I would like to be an Astronaut

And fly up to the moon

I would like to write a book

And run my very own company

I would like to be a lawyer

And study reflexology

I would like to try out acting

As well as directing the actors on stage

I would also like to teach

And free all the animals who live in a cage

I would like to save the forests

And to better my humanity

I would like to save the world and…

Do you think you could help me?
